INLINE STATIC MIXERS
PART 1 - GENERAL
1.1 THE REQUIREMENT
A. The CONTRACTOR shall furnish and
install inline static mixers as shown and as specified herein,
complete and operable including accessories in accordance with the
requirements of the Contract Documents.
1.2 RELATED WORK SPECIFIED

A. The requirements of the following
sections and divisions apply to the Work of this section. Other
sections and divisions of the Specifications, not referenced below,
shall also apply to the extent required for proper performance of
this Work.

1.3 REFERENCE SPECIFICATIONS,
CODES, AND STANDARDS
A. All Work specified herein shall
conform to or exceed the applicable requirements of the referenced
portions of the following publications to the extent that the
provisions thereof are not in conflict with other provisions of these
Specifications.
B. Comply with the applicable
editions of the following codes, regulations and standards.

1.4 CONTRACTOR SUBMITTALS
A. Submittals shall be made in
accordance with the General Requirements, Additional
General Requirements and as specified
herein.
B. Submittals shall be made in
accordance with Section 15000, Piping, General.
C. Shop drawings with mixer in
position and orientation, as shown on the Drawings. D.
Manufacturer's Affidavits and Certificates of compliance as
specified.
E. Calculations are to be shown for
flow characteristics, flow velocity and pressure drop.

4. Assembly.
5. Installation.
6. Manufacturer.
7. Type and model.
8. Dimensions and net weight.
9. Materials of construction.

QUALITY ASSURANCE |

1. All static mixers shall be tested in
accordance with recommendation and applicable AWWA/ANSI
specifications. |

2. If an alternative mixer needs to
be considered, the following information shall be supplied for each
alternative component:
a. Product Data sheets for make and
model being supplied
b. Complete catalog information,
descriptive literature, specifications and identification of
materials of construction.
c. Material of construction
with ASTM reference and grade. Submit
Manufacturer’s certificates of
compliance with referenced standards. d. Operations and
Maintenance Manual.
3. Manufacturer with at least five
years of experience in the type of equipment or service being
provided.
1.6 WARRANTY
A. One year full product warranty
shall be provided by manufacture of product.
PART 2 - PRODUCTS
2.1 INLINE STATIC MIXERS
A. Mixing element should be a
triple-action mixing or helical plate design producing cross
current mixing and counter splitting-rotating vortices shall
be provided which produce a high degree of back mixing at the
designed flow rates with minimum pressure drop.
B. Design Requirements
1. Mixing Chemicals: Polymer and
water
2. Flow Rate:
a. 15 to 60 GPM for thickening
polymer feed.
b. 30 to 100 GPM for the dewatering
polymer feed.
3. Media:
a. Dilute polymer 0.5 percent. b.
Viscosity: Up to 1,000 cps.
4. Line Size: 3 inches diameter.
5. Number of Mixing Elements: Two (2)
minimum.
6. Maximum Length: 48 inches maximum.
7. Pressure Drop: Maximum 5 pounds
per inch.
8. Connection, Main Line: ANSI B16.5,
Class 150, Raised Face flanges.
9. Connections: .Flanged.
10. Sideports: None.
11. Materials of Construction: All 316
stainless steel construction including body, flanges and mixing
elements.
12. Static Mixer Diameter: Maximum of

PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.1 INSTALLATION
A. Install inline static mixers
according to the applicable requirements of Section 15000, Piping,
General.
3.2 IDENTIFICATION
A. Inline Static Mixers shall be
identified with labels or tags as specified in Section
15030, Piping Identification Systems.
