CONSTRUCTION
PHOTOGRAPHS AND VIDEOS
PART 1 - GENERAL
1.1
DESCRIPTION
A. The CONTRACTOR shall
retain a professional photographer and videographer or a specialized
company that records and documents preconstruction and construction
conditions for forensic purposes to perform the services specified
below.
B. The CONTRACTOR shall
obtain ENGINEER’s acceptance of the photographer and videographer
selected prior to taking first photographs.
C. The CONTRACTOR shall
coordinate with the ENGINEER to determine locations of photographs
and videos.
1.2
PRECONSTRUCTION
PHOTOGRAPHS
A. The CONTRACTOR shall
take 200 pre-construction photographs to provide a record of
existing conditions prior to construction. The photographer
shall take care to document existing damage to public and private
facilities such as cracks in pavement or concrete walls. The
photographs shall include items needed to indicate scale. Locations
and times the photographs are taken shall be accurately documented.
B. Furnish one set of
color prints of the pre-construction photographs to the ENGINEER
and make others available
as required for review in settling disputes.
C. Pre-construction
photographs taken by the CONTRACTOR shall not be considered as part
of the required number of construction photographs required in
Article 1.3, below.
D. Pre-construction
photographs shall also be furnished in electronic format with a
searchable database. The database shall contain information
such as type of photograph (damage, indication, general area,
pavement, sidewalk, structure, fence, etc.), and location.
1.3
PHOTOGRAPHS
A. The CONTRACTOR shall
take no less than 40 photographs each month. The ENGINEER will
approve the views to be taken and select the time at which they will
be taken. Views will vary depending on the Progress Schedule.
1.4
PRINTS
A. Furnish three
prints of each photograph to the ENGINEER with each Monthly
Progress Payment.
B. Furnish additional
photographs or prints requested by ENGINEER at cost. The CONTRACTOR
shall submit copies of itemized invoices and proof of payment with
its monthly Progress Payment Application for additional photographer
prints requested with this item.
C. Provide high quality
5-inch by 7-inch standard weight prints with a satin finish. Aerial
photographs shall be at least 20-inches by 24-inches, standard weight
prints with a satin finish.

D. Provide high quality
digital photographs on compact discs. The file format shall be
.jpg, .gif, or .tiff.
The digital photographs shall be provided in addition to the standard
photographs required under Paragraph 1.4.C., above.
E. Place the following
information on the back of each print and on front for digital
photographs:
1. Date photograph was
taken
2. Title of Project
3. Description of view
shown in photograph
4. Name and address of
photographer
5. Photographer’s
numbered identification of exposure

VIDEOS
A. A professional
preconstruction video shall be taken of locations selected by the
ENGINEER.
At a minimum, these locations shall include:
1. Entire length of
pipe rack and screen wall, including the embankment between the Santa
Ana River Trail and the pipe rack.
2. Digesters 10 and 13
– both at ground level and on the roofs of the digesters.
3. Intersection of
Tunnels 9 and 16 – both at ground level and within the tunnels.
4. Entire length of
Tunnel 17
5. Solids Storage
