PLUMBING FIXTURES

PART 1 - GENERAL

1.1 THE REQUIREMENT

A. The CONTRACTOR shall furnish and install all plumbing fixtures specified herein and in combination with work prescribed in other sections of the Contract Documents, to provide a complete and finished plumbing system in accordance with the requirements of the Contract Documents.

1.2 RELATED WORK SPECIFIED ELSEWHERE

A. The requirements of the following sections and divisions apply to the Work of this section. Other sections and divisions of the Specifications, not referenced below, shall also apply to the extent required for proper performance of this Work.

1.3 REFERENCE SPECIFICATIONS, CODES, AND STANDARDS

A. All Work specified herein shall conform to or exceed the applicable requirements of the referenced portions of the following publications to the extent that the provisions thereof are not in conflict with other provisions of these Specifications.

B. Comply with the applicable editions of the following codes, regulations and standards.

C. Comply with the applicable reference Specifications as directed in the General
Requirements and Additional General Requirements.

1.4 CONTRACTOR SUBMITTALS

A. Submittals shall be made in accordance with the General Requirements, Additional
General Requirements and as specified herein.

PART 2 - PRODUCTS

2.1 GENERAL

A. All plumbing piping, fixtures, specialties, equipment, etc., shall be new, highest grade products manufactured for the intended usage. Materials, capacities, features, finishes, and manufacturers shall be as specified herein and shall be compatible with elements of the Work to which they relate or connect.
B. All plumbing fixtures shall be new, without flaws, with white finish unless otherwise shown. All exposed brass, faucets, wastes, traps, etc., shall be chrome plated. Each fixture shall be provided with individual stops and shall be anchored firmly to the building wall or floor. Unless otherwise specified, all fixtures shall be by Crane Co., Kohler, American Standard, Or Equal. All other plumbing equipment like softeners, water heaters, lab equipment, etc., shall have drains and isolating valves on each side.

2.2 FIXTURE SCHEDULE

A. See the Fixture Schedule on the drawings for manufacturer and model information.

PART 3 - EXECUTION

3.1 INSTALLATION

A. Each fixture and piece of equipment requiring connections to the sanitary drainage system shall be equipped with a trap, easily removable for servicing and cleaning, unless indicated otherwise on the Contract Documents. Traps shall be supplied with the fixtures. Each trap shall be placed as near to the fixture as possible, and no fixture shall be double trapped. Traps installed on bell and spigot pipe shall be extra-heavy cast iron, and traps installed on threaded pipe shall be recessed drainage pattern or as specified with the fixture.

B. Each fixture shall be vented in accordance with the applicable plumbing code.

C. The CONTRACTOR shall provide chrome-plated rigid or flexible supplies to fixtures with angle stops, reducers, and escutcheons.

D. All components shall be installed level and plumb. Supplies and wastes shall be centered on or between the wall tiles.

E. All fixtures shall be installed and secured in place with wall supports or wall carriers and bolts as necessary for proper installation.

F. Fixtures shall be sealed to wall and floor surfaces with sealant as specified in
Section 07900, Joint Sealants. Color shall match fixture.

G. All fixtures shall be mounted to the following heights above finished floor: Water Closet:
Standard 15 inches (380 millimeters) to top of bowl rim

Handicapped 17 to 19 inches (455 millimeters) to top of seat

3.2

ADJUSTING AND CLEANING





A. Stops or valves shall be adjusted for intended water flow rate to fixtures without splashing, noise, or overflow.


B. At completion, the CONTRACTOR shall clean all plumbing fixtures and equipment. C. Water closets shall be solidly attached to floor with brass closet screws.
